 | Razorcake will send you one free issue if you ask your librarian if they would carry Razorcake in their stacks. (This offer is good for both traditional libraries and independent libraries.) To get the free issue, you must send us the librarian's name and email and the library's postal address. We will then contact them directly and donate a subscription to them. U.S. libraries only, due to postage. | |

JUNKET
#2, $3, 5½'' x 8½'', photocopied, 56 pgs.
By Keith Rosson Wednesday, October 04 2006
Taxi driving stories divided into subsections: "Times People Have Tried to Rob and/or Kill Me," "People Buying or Using Drugs," etc. The good part is the kid has had quite a few sketchy experiences that could translate into good stories. The bad part is this is his second issue and his writing is a little bit raw and not that riveting. Plus, the entire thing's written in type so large that the page count probably could have been cut by a third if he went with ten- or twelve-point type; less waste and a more compact zine that's cheaper to mail. Personally, I love taxi stories. Doug Grime's taxi zine Asphalt came out probably six or seven years ago, and it's awesome. I still reread it occasionally. The difference between that and Junket is that Grime is a top-notch writer who seems to mercilessly edit himself, and that Asphalt managed to initially catch your eye with its layout and then reel you in with Grimes' writing. I'm not sure if every issue of Junket is gonna be taxi stories, but if Cummings does a few more drafts of future stories and works on the visual aspect of the zine, he'll be onto something good here. –Keith Rosson (Justin Cummings, PO Box 7183, Pittsburgh, PA 15213)
