This is a really well-done cross between a comic book and a zine. There are four comics, one about a violent hoodlum who lives in an underground world (literally underground, not non-mainstream underground) and is banished to the outside world. Another one is a strange take on smoking. A third is about an abusive father. The artwork on these three are heavily influenced by dark Japanese comic book art, and are really cool. There’s also a simple comic about a tree that becomes a house. It’s not nearly as elaborate as the other comics, and it’s drawn by a different artist, but it’s still kind of poignant. On the zine end of things, there’s an interview with the Hissyfits. Not necessarily the most in depth interview, but it definitely gives a good insight into the band and makes me want to check them out. There’s also a quirky letters section and a funny “near death experience” story. I’ve got to give this zine a lot of credit. It’s visually arresting and a good read.
