Clamor is the punk rock equivalent to The Progressive. In this issue, they cover a wide range of topics, from planned parenthood to menstruation to the enforcement of the US/Mexico border to the recent riots in Cincinnati to the police censorship of independent journalists at the WTO and DNC protests. They do a good job of balancing global issues with personal issues. The magazine definitely carries an editorial bias, but all magazines should. And instead of hiding behind the guise of “objectivity” (which no journalist could or should hope to achieve), Clamor wears its politics on its sleeve and covers a lot of issues that the mainstream media wouldn’t touch. They have a very talented pool of writers, also. At times, some of those writers tend to take themselves a little too seriously, but on the whole, I’m a big fan of Clamor.
