Appetite for Deconstruction: Deconstruction Tour 2004/2005: DVD
By Adrian Monday, July 16 2007
This is a documentary that follows the Deconstruction Tour in Europe. Basically it’s the exact same as the Warped Tour, right down to the bands playing, but on another continent. The DVD consists of live footage of bands on the tour playing live interspersed with motorcyclists, BMX riders, and skaters doing tricks. Ohhhh, and let’s not forget all the goofy backstage antics. The sound and videos all good, the performances are all decent and varied (some of my favorites are Only Crime and Strike Anywhere), and the tricks are all impressive, but at the end of the day, the only thing I really came away with was, “Isn’t it great to be in a punk band and just hang out around Europe doing goofy backstage antics!?” To me, this basically feels like a giant video memory book of fun times you’ll never be a part of, so it’s not really all that much fun to watch assorted tattooed guy number eighteen reiterate yet again how great Deconstruction Tour is and how it’s like being part of a big happy family traveling Europe. Oh, yeah, I like the shot on the Mad Caddies tour bus that so prominently features a bong in the foreground unintentionally. –Adrian Salas (MVD Visual, PO Box 280, Oaks, PA 19456)
