Razorcake Podcast #181
The Fest 2011 Edition with Todd and Daryl
By Staff Friday, October 14 2011

If you were to ask me what I think the most important date in current American mainstream culture is, I’d say it’s December 25th. Entire industries bank their year’s financial schedules around this silly, misconstrued holiday. I personally try to make as little a deal out of it as possible. Spend some time with family, maybe drink some good beer. But for the most part, I find the entire scene to be atrocious.
Now if you were to ask me what I think the most important weekend in DIY punk is, I’d tell you it’s the last weekend of October, Gainesville city limits. An international convergence of punk, hardcore, folk, metal, and even some hip-hop. A celebration of music, friends, and family.
Over the last 10 years we’ve seen the Fest grow to what it is today. Built up over the years through hours of labor and thought, careful planning and taking risks.
There’s nothing else like it in the entire country, so get the fuck out here, see some goddamn bands, and have a great time.
Happy Festing, Daryl
To download the file to your computer, right click the link below and select "save target as..." It's a hefty file, so it may take some time to download to your computer. To play the file without downloading (it depends on your computer's configuration for playing music files), just click it. Your media player should recognize what to do with an mp3. (If it doesn't, you're on your own.)
