It’s no secret that Tiltwheel has been one of Razorcake’s favorite bands over the years. Razorcake Records is proud to be re-releasing their first full length, Battle Hymns for the Recluse Youth, with our friend Gary of Accident Prone Records. (http://www.accidentprone.com/)

Battle Hymns isn’t, technically, an album, although it’s a full-length record. It’s a collection of much of Tiltwheel’s earliest songs that were on comps and splits, all in one handy slab. This record was first released in 1996 by Liquid Meat and has been increasingly hard to find over the years. We thought it’d be a good idea to make this great record available again.

For those of you nerdy enough to remember, the CD and LP versions of this record were slightly different. The LP was mastered a hair faster, it included lyrics, and it had extra song, a cover of Leatherface’s “Bowl of Flies.” Davey Tiltwheel found a DAT of the vinyl master, and we had our pal Lazer Lavin re-master these songs (with Tiltwheel’s approval) specifically, for both this LP and CD. (There’s also one other thing we did to the record, but we’re not telling what it is.)

We love vinyl, but also realize that those backpack record players skip when we’re roller blading and getting rad, and more folks are using MP3 players. So, both the CD and LP come together in the same package.

Lastly, the original cover art by the inimitable Carson (
http://www.tattoosbycarson.com/), inventor of the Pill Boy, was left intact, with the exception of using silver paper stock instead of white (so you know it’s a re-press right off the bat).
